30 Aba shoemakers sponsored by the Abia State government for a shoe-making training program in China recently arrived the country. The trainees were selected from among 100 local shoe cobblers in Aba, popularly known as Enyimba City.
The trainees will remain in China for the 30-day automated shoe training program whose aim is to promote and enhance the quality of Made-in-Aba products. Historically, the city is renowned for its vast small-scale shoe-making craftsmen whose products are traded in Nigerian and other West and Central African markets.
The shoemakers and some government officials flew into Chengdu in China where they will be trained at Chengdu Zaproma Shoe Company.
The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, charged the trainees to be of good behavior, learn every single step and bring back the knowledge for others to learn.

As of yesterday, being the 11th of January, 2018. They commenced their training with the latest shoe-making equipment and technology.
After the training, the Governor has promised to procure the full range of equipment required to set up a modern fully equipped shoe factory in Abia State.
