Imo PDP raises fresh alarm over alleged looting by Okorocha’s govt

OWERRI—Imo State branch of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has again raised the alarm that “government properties are still being looted massively by  acolytes of the current administration”.

Similarly, the Imo State Governor-elect, Chief Emeka Ihedioha has warned banks and financial institutions against opening fresh financial transactions on behalf of the state government.

The Peoples Democratic Party State Secretary, Nze Ray Emeana raised the alarm yesterday while fielding questions from journalists in Owerri. Chief Ihedioha however read the riot act through a press statement signed by his media aide, Chibuike Onyeukwu and made available to newsmen in Owerri.

“Any bank or financial institution that prefers to defy this directive does so at it’s own risk”, Chief Ihedioha said.

Part of the statement read: “Pursuant to confirmed information reaching the Imo State Governor-elect and the reckless, irresponsible and selfish applications and requests for loans, overdrafts and other credit facilities being hurriedly and wickedly made by the outgoing Governor Rochas Okorocha on behalf of Imo State Government;

“All banks and financial institutions having business relationship with Imo State Government are hereby warned against granting or giving approvals to such loans, overdrafts and credit facilities.

“Any bank or financial institution which fails to heed this warning does so at the risk of our future business relationship with the Government of Imo State.”

In a similar development, Nze Emeana lamented that “just yesterday (last Tuesday), some concerned youths confronted those dismantling and carting away street lights along Port Harcourt Road, Owerri”.

He also alerted Imo people that apart from some moveable properties that have been allegedly looted, “the looters have perfected plans to equally swoop on the Songhai Farm, Nekede,” adding that “the machines in Adapalm, Ohaji, have also disappeared.”

Continuing, Emeana said that the allegations against the sitting government are not fictitious, but based on documentary evidence.
